Haunted Hill House in Mineral Wells, TX

In the heart of Mineral Wells, Texas, just a whisper away from the looming Baker Hotel, stands the Haunted Hill House—a decaying Victorian mansion that’s earned its title as the state’s most haunted hotspot.

Built in the late 1800s at 501 NE 1st Street, this 3,800-square-foot relic is a magnet for paranormal thrill-seekers, with a dark past of bootlegging, prostitution, and rumored murders.

If you’re brave enough to step inside, prepare for a night of ghostly whispers, unexplained scratches, and encounters that might follow you home.

The house’s grim history began as a makeshift hospital during the Civil War era, treating those drawn to Mineral Wells’ healing waters.

By the 1930s, it morphed into a den of vice, serving as a brothel and speakeasy for Baker Hotel guests. Tragic deaths, including suicides and violent crimes, have left a spectral imprint.

Owners Kathy and Sonny Estes, who bought the property in 2017, report over 600 documented scratches, bites, and even demonic growls.

Visitors often hear a young boy named Joshua playing near the staircase or encounter the menacing entity “Toby” in the infamous Scratch Room.

Open for overnight investigations, the house offers ghost-hunting gear and guided tours, but only half of guests last the night. From green orbs floating in the air to objects hurling across rooms, the activity is relentless.

Featured on Ghost Adventures and Portals to Hell, where Jack Osbourne called it a potential demonic stronghold, the Haunted Hill House is not for the faint-hearted.

Book a stay if you dare, but heed the warning: some spirits here don’t want you to leave.
